Good Smile Company opened pre-orders on August 28 for THE GATTAI J-Decker, a fully transforming, combining toy of the title robot from the 1994 Sunrise series The Brave Police J-Decker: ¥32,000 (about $215) tax-in, about 255 mm tall in combined form, shipping June 2027. The manufacturer’s first-run window on the GOODSMILE ONLINE SHOP closes September 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. JST, which is 10:59 a.m. ET / 7:59 a.m. PT the same day. For overseas buyers the good news is that this one is not shop-locked: HobbyLink Japan already has a product page at ¥29,091 (about $195) before Japanese tax, with an earlier September 24 cutoff, and CDJapan lists it at the same pre-tax price through September 27.

If you miss the first run, Good Smile says a second run opens for orders on October 1 with a release around fall 2027; the exact month has not been announced.

The toy

THE GATTAI is Good Smile’s line of finished, painted transforming robots, sold under its Mecha Smile mecha brand. This entry covers the show’s two core units. Deckerd, the police-car detective, transforms from patrol car to robot with no parts swapped and stands about 120 mm. He comes with swap hands for holding his pistol and his police notebook.

J-Roader, the trailer, combines with Deckerd into J-Decker with no add-on or replacement parts, and the combined figure keeps the transformation intact rather than using a separate combined-mode body. Accessories are the electromagnetic baton and the J-Buster rifle, which converts between handgun and rifle modes and stows on the back unit when not in use. Leg cannons deploy with a built-in mechanism, and a chest cover part is included for the combined mode. An attachment for Good Smile’s separately sold THE GATTAI display base is included.

The product photos are CG renders, and Good Smile notes the final product may differ. That is normal for this line at the pre-order stage, but it is worth knowing before you commit ¥32,000 to a toy that will not ship for ten months.

Why this matters for overseas buyers

The show never had a wide English release, so this is a Japan-first collectible with no US distributor pricing to compare against. The practical choice is between paying the ¥32,000 Japanese sticker at Good Smile’s own shop or the ¥29,091 pre-tax price at HLJ or CDJapan, then adding shipping and any duty on top. Two things to watch. First, HLJ’s page says its cancellation window has already passed, so an order there is binding from the moment you place it; the mechanics are explained in Pre-Order 101. Second, this is a two-run product. Good Smile’s first-run items are the ones that ship in June 2027; the second run is a separate order period starting October 1 with a vaguer fall 2027 date. If you want it in June, order before your shop’s September deadline.

Neither the Japanese nor the English product page lists a shop-exclusive bonus, so there is no reason to route through a proxy service for this one. AmiAmi had no listing when we checked on August 30; the link below is a search page until one appears.
