Chogokin Gorenger Returns: 5 Rangers Plus Temujin, ¥33,000

Bandai Spirits revives the 1975 Chogokin Gorenger as a six-figure die-cast set at ¥33,000, due February 2027. Pre-orders opened August 27 at retail.

Bandai Spirits is bringing back the 1975 Chogokin Gorenger figures as a single six-piece set: all five members of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger plus their enemy, Iron Mask General Temujin, at ¥33,000 (about $220) with a February 2027 release. Pre-orders opened at general retail on August 27, 2026 (JST), which for overseas buyers means the usual Japanese specialist shops rather than a Premium Bandai lottery. HobbyLink Japan lists it at ¥30,000 (its export price without Japanese tax) but showed it as out of stock when we checked, and the Tamashii page names Premium Bandai USA under its USA sales region, so a US listing is likely.

What Gorenger is, and why Power Rangers fans should care

Himitsu Sentai Gorenger is the show that started the Super Sentai line in 1975, and Tamashii Nations is pitching this set as part of the franchise’s 50th anniversary. Every Super Sentai season since traces back to it, including (as Power Rangers fans will know) Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, the show whose footage became the first Power Rangers series. If you grew up on Power Rangers and want to own the point where the five-color team formula began, this is the origin.

The original Chogokin Gorenger toys came out alongside the show in 1975. This set keeps that vintage proportion on purpose: Tamashii describes the figures as retaining the nostalgic form of the 1975 release, not a modern re-sculpt in the S.H.Figuarts style. Expect chunky, toy-like heroes rather than articulated action figures. Tamashii recently pulled a similar move with the Saint Cloth Series Pegasus revival, and the Origin of Valkyrie VF-1S works the same nostalgia vein.

What is in the box

The set has six die-cast figures, each about 125 mm (roughly 4.9 inches) tall. Body, arms and legs are die-cast on all six, with ABS and PVC for the rest. The five Rangers get dedicated display stands.

• Akaranger (red, leader): Red Bute, Yari Bute and Red Hunter weapons. Missiles fire from the Birdie units on his hips.
• Aoranger (blue, sub-leader): Blue Cherry and Ultra Blue Cherry bows, plus the missile gimmick.
• Kiranger (yellow): YTC communicator and Ki Sticker, plus missiles.
• Momoranger (pink, the team’s explosives expert): Earring Bombs and Momo Mirror, plus missiles.
• Midoranger (green): Midomerang and Mido Puncher, plus missiles.
• Iron Mask General Temujin: the Black Cross Army commander, in Chogokin form for the first time, with his spear and baton. He is fully die-cast in the body and limbs like the heroes.

Also included is a Gorenger Key set: five key-shaped pieces that combine into the Gorenger emblem. Tamashii’s official set contents list is: the six figures, a weapon set for each Ranger, Temujin’s weapons, the key set and the stand set. Age rating is 15 and up.

Price, dates and how to buy

• Price: ¥33,000 tax-in (about $220), manufacturer’s suggested retail.
• Pre-orders: from August 27, 2026 (JST). Tamashii lists no deadline; general-retail items stay open until shops fill their allocation.
• Release: February 2027 in Japan. HLJ shows February 28, 2027 as its placeholder date.
• Sales regions on the official page: Japan, Asia, USA, EMEA, LATAM. Japan retailers named are Amazon Japan, AmiAmi, Sofmap, Bic Camera and Yodobashi; the USA tab names Premium Bandai USA, with no listing live yet when we checked.

A six-figure die-cast set will be heavy, so shipping from Japan will not be cheap.
