Mega Size Unicorn Gundam Ver. TWC FINAL Pre-Orders Open

Bandai Spirits opened pre-orders today, August 31, 2026 at 12:00 JST (11:00 p.m. ET / 8:00 p.m. PT on Sunday, August 30), for the Mega Size Model 1/48 RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Ver. TWC FINAL: a ¥14,300 (about $95) gunpla that reproduces the life-size Unicorn Gundam statue in Odaiba, whose exhibition ends the same day. It ships in March 2027 through the Gundam Base Online Shop on Premium Bandai — a Japan-side exclusive channel — so most overseas buyers will need a proxy service, the same route as any Premium Bandai web-shop item.

A farewell kit for the Odaiba statue

If you have been to Tokyo on an anime trip, odds are you have a photo of this robot. Bandai is closing the statue’s run with a commemorative version of the Mega Size Model Unicorn Gundam that copies its details: the marking sheet reproduces special decoration designed by mechanical designer Hajime Katoki, and the backpack and both hand parts are shaped to match the full-size statue rather than the standard kit.

The head takes a pre-assembled LED unit so the kit can light up the way the statue did — you supply two LR41 button cells and a Phillips screwdriver, neither included. Psycho-frame sections across the body use clear parts, and the beam saber effects are clear parts too, mountable on the forearm grips as beam tonfas. Armament is the Beam Magnum, shield and beam sabers.

Why it matters overseas

The Odaiba statue is one of the few anime landmarks American tourists reliably know, and August 31 is its last day on display, so this is the kit Bandai wants you to remember it by. It will not hit regular hobby retail: Bandai’s page states the kit is not sold at ordinary plamo shops, and physical stock goes to THE GUNDAM BASE TOKYO and other Bandai direct stores, with details promised later on the Gundam Base official site.

There is no order deadline — the run closes whenever the planned quantity sells through, and the listing notes a per-person purchase limit without stating the number. Bandai’s fine print does say the item may later be sold at its own events and overseas, but nothing concrete is announced, so treat that as a maybe rather than a plan.
