METAL STRUCTURE Gundam Mk-II Pre-Orders Open at ¥137,500

Bandai Spirits has opened retail pre-orders for the METAL STRUCTURE Kaitai-Shou-Ki RX-178 Gundam Mk-II in A.E.U.G. colors: about 310 mm tall, ¥137,500 (about $915), shipping January 2027. Pre-orders started August 27, 2026 JST, and because this is a general-retail release rather than a Premium Bandai exclusive, export shops and US retailers can carry it. HobbyLink Japan lists it at ¥125,000 and says the figure has more than 2,500 parts.

At this price the decision for an overseas buyer is less “where” than “how”: the box will be large and heavy, so shipping and import duty on a ¥137,500 item are a meaningful part of the total, and HLJ requires full prepayment at order with no cancellations, so this is not a pre-order to place casually.

What Kaitai-Shou-Ki means here

Kaitai-Shou-Ki (解体匠機) translates roughly as “disassembly craft machine”: the figure opens up to show its internal frame. For the Mk-II, Bandai highlights three configurations:

  • Standard silhouette of the Gundam Mk-II.
  • High-mobility combat form, a configuration Bandai created for this product: the backpack thrusters shift and armor panels across the body open, as if the suit were venting heat.
  • Full-maintenance form, with the armor open, the chest raised and the spherical cockpit visible, so you can see the movable frame the Mk-II is known for.

The dedicated stand has a central pylon that holds the suit and work arms on either side for a hangar-maintenance display; both the suit and the stand have lighting. A catapult-style part lets you pose the launch scene, and mini figures are included for scale.

Bandai’s page lists the USA among the sales regions and links to Amazon Japan; HobbyLink Japan lists it at ¥125,000 with prepayment required and no cancellations. For a purchase this size, compare the shipping method each shop offers (EMS versus courier) before you commit, since a 310 mm die-cast figure with a lit stand will not ship cheaply.
