Good Smile Delays 8 Items, Cancels Borderlands 4 Figures

Good Smile moved eight products back into October and November 2026, pulled one forward, and cancelled four Dark Horse Borderlands 4 figures outright.

Good Smile Company pushed eight products back on September 11, moving three from September into October 2026 and five more into November, and the day before it cancelled four Dark Horse Borderlands 4 figures outright. If you have a pre-order on any of them at a Japanese shop, the practical effect is a later shipping notice — or, for the Borderlands figures, an automatic cancellation you do not have to action yourself.

Good Smile attributes the delays to “adjustments in our manufacturing schedule.” Good Smile’s notice also repeats its standing line that other products remain in final quality checks, so this list is unlikely to be the last word on the autumn schedule.

What moved

The two Madoka Magica Huggy Dolls take the longest hit at two months. MEDICOS ENTERTAINMENT published its own apology the same day for the Gyro Zeppeli Nendoroids, giving “manufacturing circumstances” as the reason — the two notices agree, which is worth noting because maker and distributor announcements sometimes lag each other by days.

One product moved the other way: Wonderful Works’ Yumia Liessfeldt: Swimsuit Ver. was pulled forward from October to September 2026, which Good Smile described as an effort to get it to customers sooner. Early shipping sounds harmless, but it means the charge may land a month before you budgeted for it.

The Borderlands 4 cancellations

Four Dark Horse PVC figures — Amon, Harlowe, Rafa and Vex, all from Borderlands 4 and all slated for October 2026 — will not be released. Good Smile’s September 10 notice gives no reason.

How your money comes back depends on how you paid on the Good Smile Online Shop:

• Credit card or PayPal — nothing was charged yet, so there is no refund. The orders cancel automatically by September 30, 2026 JST (the evening of September 29 in the US).
• Amazon Pay — refunded when the cancellation processes, also by September 30.
• Convenience store payment — you already paid, so Good Smile refunds you and will email instructions by September 30.
• Ordered through a retailer instead — wait for that shop’s own notice; the timing will differ.

What is actually shipping

The same week brought two shipping notices worth checking against your order history. On September 9, Good Smile set dates for 31 items: PATLABOR the Case Files Special Edition on September 16, twenty-three products on September 17 including Nendoroid Hyacine and Nendoroid Doll KAITO: Guilty Ver., and seven more on September 18.

The September 11 notice added 18 more products across 19 listings — Modernia: Second Affection appears twice under one JAN because of a second pre-order period. PLAMATEA VALKYRIE TUNE Erika = Stradivari ships September 18, and a September 24 batch includes figma Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, Plushie Anya, three FREEing bunny figures (Samurai Bunny Botan, Sonsaku Hakufu 2nd, St. Louis), two Phat! Company Jirai-chan releases and KADOKAWA’s Full Metal Panic! Azur Raven kits.

Those are ship-out dates from the Japanese warehouse, not the day the box reaches you. Domestic Japanese shops usually post shipping notices within a week; overseas stock at US and UK retailers has historically followed two to five weeks later, the same pattern we saw with Good Smile’s September batch in August.

What to do about it

Nothing, for most people — delays of one to two months do not require any action, and Japanese shops will re-invoice on the new schedule. The one thing worth doing is checking that the card on file has not expired, especially on the FREEing items now landing in November. When Japanese figure shops charge your card walks through each shop’s billing trigger.
