P-Bandai & Tamashii Web Exclusives: How to Buy from Overseas

Premium Bandai and Tamashii Web exclusives don't ship overseas. How to check Premium Bandai USA, order through a proxy, and what it really costs.

Premium Bandai — the web shop behind Tamashii Web figures, P-Bandai Gunpla and most of Bandai’s collector exclusives — does not ship outside Japan, and its FAQ states flatly that you cannot even register an account with an overseas address. If you are in the US, that leaves exactly two doors: the separate Premium Bandai USA storefront, which carries a fraction of the Japanese catalog, or a proxy service that orders from the Japanese site with a Japanese address and forwards the box to you. This guide walks through both, in that order, and ends with a worked cost example so you know what “just use a proxy” actually adds to the sticker price.

Bandai’s own help pages, checked September 1, 2026, are the source for the ordering mechanics here; proxy fees come from Buyee’s and ZenMarket’s published fee pages. Both proxies change fees with notice, so re-check before a big order.

The three ways Bandai sells an exclusive

“P-Bandai exclusive” covers three different sales mechanics, and which one you are facing changes how much time you have and whether you can back out.

Pre-order items (予約商品) promise a shipping month and take orders during a posted window. The catch is in the fine print: Bandai’s FAQ says a pre-order can close early once the planned production quantity is spoken for, so a “deadline” three weeks out is a ceiling, not a guarantee. Cancellation is possible only inside the order window, and not at all if you paid by a prepaid method.

Made-to-order items (受注生産品) are produced after you order, one production run per order period. Because manufacturing starts on your order, Bandai accepts no cancellations or returns, full stop. These are the safest to actually get — order inside the window and one will be made for you — and the most binding once you click buy.

Quantity-limited items with no deadline simply stay up until the planned run sells out. Many Tamashii Web figures and Gundam Base web exclusives work this way: the PROPLICA G Controller (¥20,350, ships February 2027) and the Mega Size Unicorn Gundam Ver. TWC FINAL (¥14,300, about $95, ships March 2027) both list no closing date at all. A popular item can be gone in a day; a slow one can sit for months. There is also a fourth, nastier mechanic — the lottery — which gets its own section below.

One naming note: Tamashii Web Shop items (S.H.Figuarts, PROPLICA, Saint Cloth Myth and the rest) are cataloged on tamashiiweb.com, but the actual cart and checkout live inside Premium Bandai on p-bandai.jp. For buying purposes, Tamashii Web is Premium Bandai.

Step one: check Premium Bandai USA

Before pricing a proxy, spend five minutes on Premium Bandai USA — Bandai’s official English-language storefront for the US (Bandai runs separate regional storefronts as well, including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore). Bandai’s Japanese FAQ itself points North American customers there. A US listing means dollar pricing, domestic shipping, no proxy fees and no customs paperwork on your side.

Two ways to check:

1. Search the US store directly for the product name. Listings sometimes appear days or weeks after the Japanese page opens, so if the item has no deadline, checking again in a week costs you nothing.
2. Look at the sales-region tabs on the tamashiiweb.com product page. Tamashii items list their sales regions (Japan, Asia, USA, EMEA, LATAM); a USA tab with a store link means a US release is live, while a USA tab with no link — as on the Sagittarius Seiya page at launch — means “possible, not announced.”

The catalogs genuinely diverge. When Premium Bandai Japan reopened five Witch from Mercury HG kits in August 2026, Premium Bandai USA had its own Gundam Lfrith Jiu reissue at $24 — but only that one of the five. Japanese-audio electronics like the G Controller are less likely to cross over than Gunpla. If the US store has your item, buy there and stop reading; the rest of this guide is for when it doesn’t.

The proxy route, step by step

A proxy service gives you what Bandai requires and you lack: a Japanese address and a Japan-side buyer. The full fee comparison lives in our Buyee vs ZenMarket guide; the P-Bandai-specific flow looks like this.

1. Copy the product URL from p-bandai.jp (for Tamashii items, click through from tamashiiweb.com to the p-bandai.jp listing).
2. Paste it into the proxy’s order form. Service fee: ¥500 (about $3) per order at Buyee plus an optional guarantee plan (¥0–¥500), ¥300–¥800 per item at ZenMarket, ¥500 at most shops.
3. Pay the first bill: item price, the proxy’s fee, and Premium Bandai’s domestic shipping to the proxy’s warehouse.
4. Wait. A P-Bandai exclusive often ships four to seven months after ordering; the proxy holds your order until Bandai ships. Free warehouse storage (30 days at Buyee, 60 at ZenMarket) only starts counting when the box physically arrives, so a long pre-order does not burn storage days.
5. When the arrival email lands, pay the second bill — international shipping and, for US addresses, prepaid duty — and the parcel heads your way.

Two P-Bandai-specific wrinkles. First, per-person purchase limits: Bandai caps quantities on most exclusives, and a proxy ordering as one customer inherits that cap — assume you can get at most the per-person limit through one service. Second, ship-date slips: Bandai occasionally moves a shipping month, and the proxy simply holds the order; nothing is owed until the box exists.

Lottery items play by different rules

Some exclusives — typically anniversary or “phantom” pieces — are sold by drawing (抽選販売). Bandai’s FAQ describes the mechanics: everyone enters during a window, winners are drawn and only winners may buy, payment is limited to prepaid methods (credit card, PreBan Pay, Paidy), and Bandai warns it excludes entries it judges to be resale-purpose or made with other people’s information. Prepaid orders cannot be canceled, so a won lottery is a bought lottery.

For overseas buyers this adds a hard extra step: your proxy has to enter the drawing during the window and win it, and not every proxy service handles lottery entries at all — confirm with yours before the window closes, not after. Because it is a drawing rather than first-come-first-served, there is no advantage to entering on day one; an entry an hour before the deadline counts the same.

The live example as this guide publishes: the Saint Cloth Myth EX Sagittarius Seiya (God Cloth), ¥27,500 (about $185), entries open through September 17, 2026 at 23:00 JST — 10:00 a.m. ET / 7:00 a.m. PT that Thursday. Losing costs nothing; winning commits you to the full proxy pipeline below.

What it really costs: a worked example

Here is the Mega Size Unicorn Gundam Ver. TWC FINAL (¥14,300 on Premium Bandai) routed through Buyee to a US address. The first three lines are published fees; the shipping lines are estimates, flagged as such, because real quotes depend on the boxed weight and size.

Estimated total: roughly ¥24,100–¥25,000, about $165 — versus a $95 sticker price. Call it a rule of thumb: a mid-size P-Bandai exclusive lands at about 1.6 to 1.8 times its Japanese price by the time it is on your doorstep, and the ratio gets worse for cheap items because shipping doesn’t shrink with the price. Risks and fine print

The run can end without warning. No-deadline items close when the planned quantity sells out, and Bandai does not publish stock meters. If an item you want is up and funded, order it; “I’ll decide this weekend” is how allocations are missed.

Cancellation is mostly a myth. Made-to-order items cannot be canceled at all; anything paid by a prepaid method cannot be canceled; and both major proxies treat a completed purchase as final. Assume every yen of the first bill is committed the moment you pay it.

Boxes are bigger than you think. A Mega Size kit or a PROPLICA with its stand ships in a carton that dwarfs a normal figure box, and couriers charge by volumetric weight. Budget the shipping line before ordering, not after.

The aftermarket is the bootleg zone. Missed exclusives resurface on Mercari, eBay and auction sites at markup — and P-Bandai figures are prime counterfeit targets precisely because the real ones are scarce. Ship months move. February can become April. The proxy holds the order either way; just don’t route a birthday gift through P-Bandai.

FAQ

Can I just make a p-bandai.jp account with my US address? No. Bandai’s FAQ says Premium Bandai neither ships overseas nor accepts member registration with an overseas address. The workarounds are the US storefront or a proxy.

Does Premium Bandai USA carry everything from the Japanese store? Not close. It runs its own smaller catalog with its own prices and windows; of five Witch from Mercury kits reissued in Japan in August 2026, exactly one had a US listing. Always check, never assume — in either direction.

Can a proxy enter a P-Bandai lottery for me? Some services handle lottery entries and some do not, so confirm with yours before the entry window closes. If it can, remember the proxy must also win; a lottery entry is a chance, not an order.

When do I actually pay? Twice. First bill at order time: item, proxy fee, domestic shipping. Second bill when the item reaches the warehouse months later: international shipping plus, for US addresses, prepaid duty and clearance fees. Nothing extra is due while you wait.
