Bandai Spirits opened pre-orders on September 1 for a HI-METAL R Dragonar-1 & Cavalier-0 set from Metal Armor Dragonar: ¥29,700 (about $200) tax-in, about 170 mm tall, shipping February 2027. This is a general-retail item, not a Tamashii Web Shop exclusive, and AmiAmi has a live listing at ¥26,730 (about $180); HobbyLink Japan listed it at ¥27,000 (about $180) but its order window closed August 31 — so US and UK buyers can still order today from AmiAmi with no proxy service involved.
It is the first time the line has done the D-1 itself. HI-METAL R covered the Dragonar-1 Custom, D-2 Custom, and D-3, but the plain Dragonar-1 — the lead machine of the TV series’ first half — never got a release until now. Bandai frames the set as a 40th-broadcast-anniversary item.
What is in the set
The headline extra is the Cavalier-0, the D-1’s bulky support booster, newly sculpted for this release. Its drum-shaped trunk section locks onto the figure’s back for stable posing, the radome head rotates and pulls out, and the two rail cannons articulate independently. Without it, you get a clean 170 mm Dragonar-1 with the line’s signature hatch-open gimmick exposing the frame underneath.

Accessories cover the D-1’s full loadout: hand railgun with four spare magazines, two laser sword grips (plus a connected double grip) with two blades, hybrid shield, two assault knives, two throw-in bombs, two anti-Metal-Armor grenades, five pairs of swap hands, and a dedicated stand.
How to order from the US
Tamashii Web lists no pre-order deadline — no deadline is listed. AmiAmi currently undercuts HLJ by a few hundred yen, though shipping choices can flip the math; our HLJ vs AmiAmi comparison walks through that. One caution on HLJ: its order deadline closed on August 31, 2026, so the listing is Notify Me only for now — and because the cancellation cut-off has also passed, any order placed if it reopens is locked in. The USA is also an official sales region, so domestic stock through Bandai’s US retail channels is likely closer to release.
Kit or finished figure
Dragonar fans suddenly have two ways to put a D-1 on the shelf. Hasegawa’s newly tooled 1/72 XD-01 Dragonar-1 kit runs ¥8,580 and ships this December — a snap-fit build project, but with no Cavalier-0. The HI-METAL R costs about three and a half times as much for die-cast construction, a painted finish, and the booster unit, with zero assembly. Both are tracked on our Metal Armor Dragonar hub, and this set joins the Pre-order Radar.
Most Japanese shops ship worldwide by EMS/DHL (7–14 days). Duties and import taxes are charged on delivery in most countries — check your local threshold before ordering.
